SW Charter Readies for Honk and We Need Your Help!
Jonathan Swartout, our Aide & After School Enrichment Coordinator, has a long history with musical theater. He has graciously agreed to tackle a musical for SW Charter this Spring. The production is called Honk! In the link attached, Jonathan explains more about the plot, the plan for the production, and important dates for your students to consider. Rehearsals will be on Monday and Wednesday afternoons, and they will begin before the recently announced clubs have concluded!

We are also looking for a few good folks to come alongside Jonathan to help make this happen. We need the following:
- Accompanist – We are looking for a piano accompanist who can help with the tryouts next week (!) and then again during the week of the final rehearsals and performances (week of May 5).
- Costume Designer – We’d like our 6-8 students to work with a costume designer as their Spring Artist-in-Residence to help design and produce costumes for the production. This would start after Spring Break.
- Choral Teacher – We want our K-5 teachers to learn Honk! music (and others) through a Spring Artist-in-Residence with a Choral Teacher. This position must be a licensed teacher as Arts Tax funds will support this person’s work at SW Charter.
- Sub for Jonathan – We are looking for someone to cover After School Enrichment on Mondays and Wednesdays beginning next week through the performance in early May. This is a paid position, Monday & Wednesday from 3-6pm.
If anyone can help with the positions above, please contact Anne at annegurnee@swcharter.org.
