As we get closer to winding down this school year, I want to take a moment to thank all of you in our SWCS community for everything you do, as we couldn’t have possibly made it this far into our school year without the tireless efforts of our community of volunteers. I’ve said it before, and I have to say it again: it does take a village and ours is pretty darn amazing!

With our school year in its final months, so are the terms for your Friends of SW Charter (FoSWCS) PTO Board. I am finishing out my second year as PTO President. It is time for me to step down and have another take lead. I have truly enjoyed my time on the FoSWCS Board, and being able to help guide and shape what we have been able to accomplish. SWCS is a fun & supportive environment to lend your energy, and I’m honored to have had the chance to be a part of our PTO Board.

I want to ask you to consider offering your guidance and support on the FoSWCS Board for the 2015/2016 school year. You may never have thought about being on the PTO, but it requires no previous experience, you only need to care and want to be involved. Each person brings their own unique view to the Board, which is what helps shape such a great community! In the past, we have also had 2 people work as co-chairs to split duties (have a friend in mind?). You can expect to commit to about 5 hours per month, but how much time you spend is entirely up to you.

I invite you stop by our May 5th FoSWCS meeting at Elephants Deli on Corbett at 6:30pm. We’ll be putting together the new FoSWCS Board at this meeting. Please don’t assume someone else will fill these roles, we need our amazing SWCS people like you to get involved so things can continue on! We will also have open spots for a Secretary and Treasurer for next year. And, email me if you want any more info or have questions, I’m always happy to help!
