The Walk + Bike Challenge is a friendly competition aimed at encouraging more kids and families to walk and bike to and from school and throughout their neighborhoods. We want to surpass our last total of 82 walkers bikers and carpoolers.
Students will be given scorecards to track their progress through the month. Students who hand their scorecards in at the end of the month will qualify for prizes! Prizes will be given to students who bike or walked to school the most, and all score cares will be entered into a raffle. Prizes include a new bike helmet and gift certificates to Chipotle. If you need a score card, you can find one at the link below.

We would also like to encourage families to bike or walk to school on National Bike and Walk to School Day- which is coming up on May 6th! We will have some SWCS families that will be meeting up at locations in Sellwood & John’s Landing that morning, that you can join up with, and bike to school together.
We have a couple of parents that are leading groups that morning. If you’d like to lead a group from a different location (i.e. NE PDX), please send me an email and I’ll get your info added! (Christina Cartwright cartwrightx7@gmail.com)

Safe Routes to School made us a map of good places to drop off your child to walk and bike to school.
Thanks, and here’s to a healthy, active May!
