Hattie Kirby’s (8th grade) annual charitable drive for Harry’s Mother Runaway Youth Services is underway, once again with the help of the 3rd/4th grade SWCS Girl Scouts!
Harry’s Mother, the only comprehensive youth crisis center in the Portland metropolitan area, provides 24-hour crisis intervention, emergency shelter and individual and family counseling to youth ages 9 to 17 and their families.
Consider donating items that will help Portland’s homeless youth get through the cold winter. Donation boxes will be in the front entry by Kathy’s desk and in the main hallway (outside of the drinking fountain area) through the beginning of winter break.
For a complete wish list visit (please note – gently used clothing and household items can be donated. Soiled, torn & heavily worn items cannot be accepted):
Most needed items are as follows:
- blankets
- socks (adult sizes)
- ponchos/rain gear
- toothpaste (preferably travel size)
- toothbrushes
- band-aids (all sizes)
