Summer is almost over and in only 1 week we’ll start another year at the best school in Portland! We welcome you to come in the school, to check out the new playground, to drive on field trips, and to become involved in a variety of ways.

One way to become involved and to stay abreast of what’s happening in our school is to become involved in Friends of Southwest Charter School (FOSWCS).  Friends (our parent/ teacher organization) works to build community and support families, aids and supports staff, engages in community service, fund raises to create field work scholarships for those in need, and supplies funds for teacher grants.

Our website can give you information on volunteer opportunities (direct link:  http://www.signupgenius.com/go/5080e49a9ad29a46-friends), events happening around the school, budget info, calendar, meeting minutes and much more.

There are several easy ways to keep in touch with Friends’ news:

• On the right side of the website’s main page you can sign up to receive emails updating you whenever there is a new blog post.
• Add our Google calendar to your personal calendar and never miss any important dates.
• Like us on Facebook.

FOSWCS has a monthly meeting 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm, upstairs at Elephants Deli on SW Corbett. All are welcome and encouraged to come- have a glass of wine and maybe some dinner while spending time with a fantastic group of parents.

Due to Back to School Night on September 13th, our September meeting is scheduled for THURSDAY 9/8 at 6:30 pm at Elephants. Mark your calendars!
