We are pleased to announce that the SWCS Parent-Staff Band will perform at this year’s annual fundraiser on Sunday, March 19th!

Jessica Bell, the band’s keyboard player, took some time out to answer a few questions about the band.

How did the idea for a parent-staff band arise and how long has the band been around?

A school email went out sometime last year, looking for parents and staff members who were interested in starting a band. We’ve been playing at All-School Meetings almost every month since then. We usually find one Saturday a month to rehearse, then do a quick rehearsal the morning of the All-School Meeting. Often we have students join us on stage. We always welcome new members!

Who are the core members and what instruments do they play?

• Chris Heath – Keyboard/Bass/Drums/Vocals (anything, really)!
• Chris Varley, Matt Cockrell – Guitar
• Marlene Dorfman, Natalie Riley, Elizabeth Thompson, Matt Cockrell – Vocals
• Bill Athens – bass, drums
• Jessica Bell – Bass, Keyboard

Will the fundraiser on March 19th be the SWCS Parent-Staff Band’s first gig outside the Great Room?

Yes!

Will you be performing anything special on fundraiser night?

It will be quite a mix of genres – something for everyone!
